Your Favorite Motorcycle Ride Part I

In Orlando, Florida riding out to Leesburg Bike Fest

With the brutal heat of south Florida slowly disappearing, we decided it was time to get back on our bikes and add some miles to the odometer.

This past weekend we rode to Ft. Myers, Florida and as always, we prefer the roads less traveled. We had lunch in downtown at Ford’s Garage and on Saturday’s, downtown Fort Myers gets shut down for the antique car show. So after a fulfilling meal of hamburgers made from bison or Kobe beef, we walked around, took plenty of photos, and headed to the hotel.

It was a great ride and we had a good time. It was 12 of us on 6 bikes. As luck would have it, it was 3 Harleys and 3 Honda Vtx’s. On our return trip home, I started to think of my favorite motorcycle rides. I quickly realized I had to break down my rides into three categories and even then, it would be a difficult task. So, I started thinking what are my favorite rides when riding alone, riding with Anny, and riding with a group of friends.

For me, the best group ride was earlier this year when we rode to Leesburg Bike Fest. It was our second year in a row as a group, and our first trip together we had such a good time, that basically the same group rode together again this year. What started off as a group of strangers riding together, became our closest friends. Rarely does a day go by without us communicating with one another.

For our ride to Leesburg, it was a total of 27 of us, which included one car and two kids. Our first night was spent having a great time in Señor Frogs celebrating the birthdays of two of our friends.

The next day we rode the back roads to out of the way places in Central Florida. The weather was perfect, the ride was perfect, and our group complimented the ride. It was a weekend I will not soon forget. I can’t wait for the next one which if the rumors are correct, Daytona 2016 here we come!

What is your best ride with a group?

It was indeed a great ride. For some reason or another. Alex seems to be the type of person that people just gravitate to. I am proud to call him my friend. It is never a dull moment with this crowd. I strongly encourage anyone to ride with him.
