This past weekend I had the honor of not only riding with the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club, but I also placed the wreath in honor of the Merchant Marines. All other branches of the military were represented as well; Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and POW’s and those MIA.
The wreath ceremony is a simple and great idea to honor our military vets. A wreath is placed on the grave of each veteran. Unfortunately, there are never enough wreaths to go around.
This was my first time participating in this great cause and that is when I learned that there are 1,200 military vets buried in a cemetery in Homestead, Florida. We only had two hundred wreaths. I hope next year there is a wreath for every veteran. It is the least we can do.
To participate, contact your local military vets organization or contact Wreaths Across America. It’s a great cause and an opportunity to ride with a great group of guys and girls.
