The Race of Gentlemen- Vintage Motorcycles

Of all the motorcycle rallies and bike events to attend, including the large ones like the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and Daytona Bike Week, I have to believe the coolest one has to be the Race of Gentlemen/T.R.O.G.

Just imagine hanging out on the New Jersey shore, just off the boardwalk, and watching pre-war classic Harley Davidson Motorcycles and classic Indian Motorcycles racing on the beach on a 1/8 mile track, the surreal effect magnified as the participants dress in vintage clothing and motorcycle riding gear such leather helmets and googles. I’m sure you cannot imagine that, that is why the Race of Gentlemen exists. No custom baggers here.

The annual race was founded in 2012 by the Oilers Car Club. The Oilers were founded in 1947. Winners of the race get bragging rights which I like since it keeps the event honest.

Single day tickets sold for twenty dollars and weekend passes sold for fifty-five dollars. Children between the ages of seven through fifteen got in for fifteen dollars and children under the age of six were free. Pit passes were also available for the ultimate classic experience. The annual rally took place on Wildwood Beach in New Jersey and they will be back for more next year.

CLARIFICATION- The potential site for Bonneville is postponed for now. However, all other regularly scheduled events will continue. Follow this link to their site for their updates/calendar.

As you can see, the next stop is a well deserved special exhibit at the Harley Davidson Museum from June 16 through September 4. Should be another great one.

I definitely hope to attend this event next year as so should you.
