Manitoba is trying to pass strict laws on using a cell phone while driving, a lesson that can be learned here in the United States.

A new bill was introduced that would result in a┬ásuspension of three days for a first offense and seven days for the second infraction, plus fines of $204 and five points against a driver’s license.

Ontario and Quebec are also passing stricter laws and Ontario plans on licence suspensions and fines up to $3,000 for repeat offenders. For death or serious bodily injury, penalties are a five year license suspension, up to two years in jail, and a $50,000 fine.
