Riding the Everglades by Motorcycle- Ted Smallwood Outpost

Ted Smallwood Store Everglades City, Florida

The Ted Smallwood Store was a trading post back in the day, and by back in the day, I mean 1906. Located in 10,000 Islands in Chokoloskee, Florida, it is easily accessible by take SR-29 south in Everglades City.

The former outpost became registered as a U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

When the weather cools down in south Florida, I always ride down there after a nice lunch in Everglades City. This time I got to ride there for the first time on my Harley Davidson Street Glide.

There isn’t much to do and see there, but I do enjoy sitting by the water and enjoying a cigar. There aren’t too many places in Florida where you can find peace and quiet, but you will always find it here. Go just before sunset if you get a chance for some amazing views.

I’m going to that general area in March. I’ll check it out. Maybe rent a motorcycle from eagle riders. I’ll be in Naples. I always wanted to ride thru Everglades Park.
