The Ride is Over- Now What?
After a long day of riding, what do you like to do?
When I arrive home after adding a couple of hundred more miles to the odometer, besides unloading the saddlebags, I have to pay attention to my dogs who are acting like I have been gone for three months. But then again, that’s why we love our dogs.
The reason we all ride is to “get away.” Get away from what depends on your situation, but we all share the same and/or similar stories.
Sometimes the ride is to break the norm of a 9-to-5. Maybe you had a bad day at work, or maybe you just want to ride for the sake of riding. Regardless, motorcycles are our form of meditation, whether during or after the ride. Just think of how all your troubles melt away when riding on an empty road.
After My Rides- What I Enjoy
With time permitting, after my rides, I just like to sit down, relax, have a cold Heineken and a cigar. Of course, I still have to deal with my dog Bella, but, just throw her the Frisbee and she is good.
At night, to fall asleep, I like to replay my ride in my mind. And to be honest, the night before an out of town ride, I do have trouble falling asleep, excited with what lies ahead. I rarely have trouble falling asleep, even when stressed out, but I have learned that weekend getaways on the motorcycle requires a couple of Melatonin pills an hour before heading to bed.
Next time, instead of counting sheep, count motorcycles, but there is a good chance that will cause the opposite reaction.
