So, how many friends of yours traded in their Honda because the wanted to feel the rumble of a Harley? Is a Harley a Harley without it?
I once blogged about Bob Dylan switching from acoustic to the electric guitar. His fans went nuts! Of course, they came around, but if you research video footage of that first concert using an electric guitar, you would think Dylan was a criminal. Well, now Harley-Davidson is facing a Bob Dylan moment.
There is no further denying that the makeup of the motorcycle culture is changing. The baby boomers are riding off into the sunset and the same way they affected every facet of life for decades, so will millennials; a subject I’ve written about ad nauseam.
It was obvious whether they like it or not, that Harley Davidson Motorcycles would have to give in and join the ec0-friendly culture and produce an electric motorcycle. And now, Harley Davidson is doing just that. The market determines the product and demand, not the other way around.
Within the next year and a half, Harley Davidson predicts their first electric motorcycle to be in production. Harley Davidson did create in 2014 a prototype- LiveWire, that was able to go from 0-60 mph in four seconds with a charge limited to 55 miles and has been featured in the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
“The EV motorcycle market is in its infancy today, but we believe premium Harley-Davidson electric motorcycles will help drive excitement and participation in the sport globally. As we expand our EV capabilities and commitment, we get even more excited about the role electric motorcycles will play in growing our business.”
