Yesterday was the M.S.A.R. 3rd Annual Turkey Ride/Drive. While the event turned out amazing with over 7,000 lbs. in turkeys collected, it was bittersweet.
Eric Delgado, whom I never had the pleasure of meeting, passed away last year while riding his motorcycle. Eric was young, but with a huge heart and very charitable. When he found out about the Turkey Ride, he immediately bought two turkeys to participate. At the last second, he decided not to attend the event, but gave the turkeys to his parents to make sure they would go and donate. Unfortunately, Eric never made home.
This year’s ride was done in his name and honor. His parents who I do know, led us from Tropical Park to our destination at Liberty Motorcycle Assoc. Clubhouse. It was an honor to not only have an another successful Turkey Ride, but more importantly, to honor Eric and have his parents lead the ride.
