“It is shameful that we live in a time when people need to create fake quotes attributed to others on social media.
There is a fake quote attributed to me that is circulating. This is false. I want you to know that I have not, nor would I ever speak about the President of the United States in that way. Or anyone else for that matter.”
– Matt Levatich, President and CEO, Harley-Davidson, Inc.
Already fake quotes and rumors are spreading faster than wildfire and Trump supporters are attacking Harley Davidson for not “being American,” or they are “communist,” or other stupid statements. Just go to Harley Davidson’s Facebook page and you will see what I am talking about. Levatich’s response is to a rumor that he called President Trump a moron.
European Union and the Trump Tariffs
It’s not that difficult to figure out. Harley Davidson’s team of financial advisers and tax experts who spent hundreds of hours working on calculations, realized that they stand to lose $100 million a year due to the retaliatory tariff by the European Union. Sales in Europe account for sixteen percent of Harley Davidson’s revenue. They can either build the motorcycle in the United States, then pay more to ship it over there and lose money, add the loss to the cost of the motorcycle which means the consumer pays for it, or simply just manufacture it in Europe. That’s not communism, that’s capitalism, but mostly common sense.
