I haven’t even finished watching the three part mini-series on the Discovery Channel and I am already impressed. I have two shows down and one to go, and you already know what I will be doing tonight.

Harley and the Davidsons started on Monday, but there are more showings coming up this week especially since this mini-series had the second highest ratings in the last three years, except for the O.J. Simpson mini-series which was also impressive. If you happened to miss it, you can find more information or the schedule by clicking here.

I have read books, articles, and have seen plenty of documentaries on Harley Davidson Motorcycles and in my opinion, this is the best one so far. I won’t reveal anything since I do not want to spoil it for those that haven’t seen it yet. But, while watching the mini-series, I realized how all the stars aligned to make sure the iconic motorcycle would survive the test of time. Think about it.

Start off with the actual name of the founders; Harley and Davidson. The Flying Merkel just doesn’t have that ring to it.

The owners could have not grown up together. ¬†One didn’t have to be a genius engineer and the other a marketing superstar. Even one of the Davidsons was a motorcycle racer and a machinist that was integral in building history. I have always said every so often, it seems the hands of God touch some people directly. For example, you have professional athletes, and you have athletes. Not just Hall of Famers, but athletes who completely dominate their sport and influence it for decades to come. Think of Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods. Where everything in their life was aligned perfectly to make sure they followed the path that was laid out for them to make history. Harley Davidson Motorcycles is no different.

Business competition is no holds barred, yet, Harley Davidson has survived the competition, a World War, the Great Depression, even the recent Great Recession. The road was never smooth but they pushed forward. Those are lessons in life to be learned. No matter how difficult the road ahead is, just put it in gear and keep moving forward. That not only symbolizes the iconic motorcycle brand, but what this country stands for.

Enjoy the show.
